SOS Care is proud to partner with our local First Responders and continue to grow and educate Project Lifesaver in our community.
Project Lifesaver is a premier search and rescue program operated internationally for individuals deemed “at risk” and prone to the life-threatening behaviors of wandering such as those with Autism, Alzheimer’s, and other intellectual disabilities. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide rapid response for those who wear a Project Lifesaver bracelet to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the tendency to wander. Locally, this is a collaboration between Horry County Public Safety, The City of Myrtle Beach Police & Fire, Conway Police Department, North Myrtle Beach Police Department and SOS Care.
How it works...
Citizens who qualify for Project Lifesaver wear a small radio frequency bracelet around the wrist or ankle that emits an individualized radio frequency signal, if an enrolled client goes missing, the caregiver calls 911 and highly trained Project Lifesaver agencies will respond.
Search times for these individuals enrolled in the program is highly reduced from hours to days to 30 minutes or less with this program.
The cost for the bracelet, batteries and supplies for a one-year kit is $360. The client’s batteries are changed every 60 days. Supplies for continued uninterrupted services cost $150 per year. We provide this service and supplies free of charge to the individual.
